The Okefenokee Chamber of Commerce
The Okefenokee Chamber of Commerce is a vital part of our community. Its primary functions include providing information about local businesses and attractions to tourists, and assisting existing businesses by offering a variety of events and networking opportunities.
In the summer and fall the chamber spends their days planning the Miss Okefenokee Beauty Pageant and the Annual Okefenokee Festival.
In December the Holiday season is kicked off with Santa's Christmas Celebration. With much coordination, the Chamber is able to arrange a visit from Santa Claus for the event. Santa has the honor of lighting the Christmas Tree, a large Cedar tree on the grounds of the Jesse Crews Sr. Memorial Park.
As volunteers, the Chamber's Board of Directors put a lot of work and effort into making the community the best it can be. As part of this effort they attend several travel shows throughout the year.
These travel shows allow the Chamber to showcase our community and encourage tourists to stay and shop in Charlton County while visiting the famous Okefenokee Swamp.
The Chamber also sponsors Business After Hours and an Annual Banquet, which are wonderful networking opportunities for the local business and industry professionals. With the added benefits this web site provides the community and internet visitors at large, the Chamber is constantly improving its services and support.
