Industrial Park

The Okefenokee Industrial Park, located strategically off Highways 1 and 301, offer Class I rail service, and easy access to major four-lane highways. This location is less than an hour from the international ports and airports of Brunswick, Georgia and Jacksonville, Florida. Plus, it is less than a 30 minute drive to I-95 and I-295. The industrial park has access to water, sewer, natural gas, and a selection of electric providers.

Airport Authority

The Charlton-Folkston-Homeland Airport Authority (formerly known as the Folkston-Charlton County Airport Authority) was established in 1970. It consists of seven qualified electors of the county appointed by local government to serve a four-year term.

This board has the authority to acquire, construct, equip, maintain, operate, own, and improve airports and landing fields for the use of aircraft which shall include related buildings, equipment, and the usual and convenient facilities appertaining to such undertaking, and to acquire the necessary property therefore, both real and personal, and to lease and sell any and all such facilities including real property.

Permits

All plumbing, electrical, or building inspections are conducted by the county building inspector. All building, electrical, mechanical, and construction work must be in accordance with federal, state, and local building codes. The building inspector can be reached by calling the County Permitting Office at 912-496-3826.

Licenses

Any business located within the county must have a business license. Businesses located within the city limits should obtain business license applications at City Hall. Businesses outside of the city should obtain business license applications from the County Commissioners Office. Applications are mailed annually to current business license holders.
